Perfect.

Merlyn: Following the action taken at the said Mosque a
leader/spokesman for that particular mosque spouted the expected
hot air and nonsense about it's sanctity as a "house of god" on
an evening news programme. During a three-way discussion he
assumed the Labour MP who was justifying that action was a
Jewish MP, with a Jewish 'agenda'. The MP smirked a little on
hearing this. When the discussion finally turned back to him he
replied with a wry smile, "I'm not Jewish." Geeez, I dunno some
people blame Jews for everything.:)

Not having followed the season at all, I see Tampa and Oakland
will contest things this year. Whichever team's down by half-
time gets my support. When it comes to sporting contests I
always vote for the underdog.

I cast a new years prediction and I got a mixed bag. Seems
there is a new factor (N.Korea) and the outcome is still in the
air, so to speak. So much is happening the stones gave me
a "need to check later" reading on the Future. So I will check
later. They did warn on the unknown factor being a real problem.
So we may see Kim suck Dung jumping in and causing trouble, or
perhaps some other factor may play out a role in this Iraq mess.
We shall see.

I don't think he'd be stupid enough to ever do such a thing
again. If he does, however, support terrorism then I do agree
we have to do something about it. But no one can show provide

should risk the loss of life.

I whole heartedly agree, that we shouldn't allow our boys to
fight over oil. And the loss on either side would be a tragic
waste. But.. we have to remember that Saddam has been cooped up
for the past 13 (?) years as not to allow him to do harm. The
Muslims continue to speak loudly of their desire to kill us all
and let Alalalah sort us out. And they do so boldly in many
countries. This all hasn't just been our imagination. The world
has supplied Saddam with plenty, of everything, to spread out
amoung his people, yet he has not done so until now. Long before
the sanctions America supported Iraq, army and all, against
Iran, only to find we had created yet another back biting
monster.
My gut tells me we will walk in, no real war, just walk in.
But I will reserve my view untill a bit later, when I read into
this mess what will happen. Much has changed in the past few
months, and the outcome as well.

to seduce that policewoman pretending to be a teenager"
Clintonian style denial statement soon. I had wondered why
Ritter was such a outspoken Iraqi supporter for so long then
suddenly went silent. Funny how getting arrested for something
really degrading will do that. Perhaps he got caught inspecting
young girls while in Iraq and the Iraq's used it against him in
exchange for positive propoganda from a former inspector. I hate
the motherfucker, does it show?

I have a feeling action in Iraq will nowhere near as warlike as
it could be. Its just a feeling. Saddam may not back down and
any preliminary bombing deaths will be on his head, but I
suspect we will see mass surrenders as our troops enter Iraq, if
it comes to that. This may end up a true liberation. Regardless
of the how's and why's I'd like to see this Iraq mess settled
once and for all. The sooner, the better for U.S. economy.

There is no proof that Saddam is working on weapons of mass
destruction, and he has no means of delivering any warhead to the
U.S. The only thing he does have is a hatred of Israel, and our
sons and daughters may have to die once again on behalf of the
Jews, even though they have their own military, and weapons of
mass destruction.
You will only find on this board war mongers, who do not care
who has to die, as long as there is death, and more death for
them to drool over. They hate themselves, and they hate each
other.

This war is not about fighting "once again on behalf of the
Jews". We never did so before, so how could we be doing so "once
again"? Besides, this war is about removing a very real threat
to the U.S. and other Western nations. If you haven't figured
that out by now, you never will. BTW, it's funny how a
Jew-basher like you has the "chutzpah" to call people on this
board "war mongers"; you might spend more time dealing with your
hypocrisy, and less time dealing with those of us who ain't
perfect like yourself.

Yeah, I agree that this war needs to be settled quickly and
decisively. I wonder if Saddam is taking a passive-aggressive
approach toward us by making us spend billions of dollars and
countless man-hours in tactics, logistics, and shaking the
economy to some degree. I know that when we do finally go in
some blood will be spilt, but I believe that that stupid SOB will
either be exiled or put to death (finally) as a result. Whoever
replaces the old geezer probably won't head up a government as
free as that of the U.S. or England, but it still has to be
better than the worthless oppressive machine currently in place.
So now that my much-beloved Steelers are "one-and done" in the

danger is we may well have our troops in Iraq, bombing the sand

of weapons. That is where they are. Not in Iraq. Kim suck dung
is just a confused communist in the last days of his kind of

Well, let's play war room for just a second. Let's suppose that
Iraq plays George Bush out, stalling as long as he can. Then we
look at the map. GW has his entire fleet floating in the Persian
Gulf, surrounded by Saudi Arabia and Iran. Let's just think
here, that Saddam watched the last war on his home video and
figured out the obvious. Sure he cannot show he destroyed the
weapons, because he didn't. Nor does he have them anymore. In
fact he gave them away...to Saudi Arabia and Iran, who knew full
well that given a nudge (9-11) George would come a sailin' into
port at Kuwait, just like his Daddy. Then take a look at
Syria..Right in place to wipe Israel right off the map and into
the Mediterranean Sea. Turkey, Egypt and the Soviet Union remain
Neutral, closing the trap. Now who has who in a trap?
And that is the unknown factor, I now see all too clearly. As
also the recent past, using Afghanistan as a deliberate drain on
our economy and to slow down the inevitable long enough for
Saddam to make his needed deals.
It is becoming very clear why the rest of the world, allies
included see this very same destabilizing factor.

Dead dude: Hey now, steady! As you're fairly new to the board
I'll re-cap about Mr.Ritter, because his name's been mentioned
here previously. Over the last couple of years he has been
pleading Saddam Hussein's case in as far as the alleged
concealment of mass destructive weaponary is concerned, when
it's been out of fashion to do so. As oppposed to now, where
it's almost the in thing. If he's literaly got caught with his
trousers down, well it serves him right.

All: A few Brits, of which some here maybe aware, are due to fly
over to Iraq as human shields to stand "side by side with the
Iraqi people". In as far as it goes, that's noble enough I
suppose, except for the fact that the real upshot can only be a
propaganda coup for Hussein free of charge. "Oh.." people
say, "..I know Saddam Hussein's a viscious tyrant"..etc,
etc.."but it's the Iraqi people we're concerned about. Fine. But
then how else is he going to be removed from power? The British
and U.S. governemnts fucked up, when they considered and
proceeded, to support Hussein against Iran back in the 70's.
Easy to say in hindsight. The unavoidable fact is that he has to
be dealt with at some point. On balance I'm FOR military action
in Iraq, against the tide of opinion in the U.K at present, so
long as Iraq is certain to have a large degree of autonomy over
it's oil resources after any conflict.

It's easy to be cynical and say that the Bush family and their
influential supporters just want the oil. It's down to President
Bush should he win a second term to PROVE that he and his
administration will intervene in Iraq to build a nation, not
just plunder it. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt on
this one. If, the main reason for action in Iraq is indeed just
securing the oil, I have no doubt that the consequences will be
dire for all of us, regardless of who we are or where we live.

Not being completely devoid of cynicism, if by some miracle a
second U.N. resolution is passed, the French may join in any
military effort, if for no better reason than to not miss out on
any post-war military contracts that are up for grabs.

I've thought (first mistake) for some time the military buildup
in the M.E. will serve several purposes. Saddam being the
headliner maybe. But also it has sorted friends from potential
enemies, and not only in the middle east (thank you Germany and
France for nothing). Also our armed forces are now within
striking distance of anything that needs to be struck when (not
if) Islamic terrorism hits the west again. Increased cooperation
(corraling their own nutters) from middle eastern countries is
another plus. If there is one thing they respect about the U.K.
and U.S. it is the fact we could now shit-stomp any one their
asses if need be. Just a few of the downsides are our troops
being sitting ducks on the terrorists home turf and the cost to
an already struggling economy. Money well spent for future peace
hopefully. Iraq 2003: "The Mother of all Surrenders" tm. Eat

If war does occur I can only hope that it is quick and decisive.
Ideally, the U.N. weapons inspectors should be given all the
time they need to do their job. If they find nothing more during
that time, provided Hussein has been co-operative, any deployed
British forces should come back, end of story. If it becomes
plain however that Hussein is being deliberately obstructive and
not co-operative, that alone is a breach of the first U.N.
resolution. Mr.Hussein respects force, and nothing else. Against
common expectation I'd hope the U.S. and British military forces
stay their hand for as long as is needed and not give into the
temptation of action around Feb/March. He at least now knows
that the U.S. and Britain are serious about military conflict.
To have troops stationed in the region for 9-12 months will hurt
both our economies, but whatever the final outcome the U.N. in
the long run I think will be strengthened by it.

I support but I'm not a fan of, George Bush. I'm also a realist.
I know he's probably got connections to powerful corporate
backers be they fair or foul. His environmental track is
probably abysmal, and his economic track record will probably
end up the same way. However prior to his election, he didn't
know where the rest of the world was, but he sure knows now. I
know that many in the U.S. from the far-right and from the
left/far-left want U.S. military forces to permamantly stay at
home for their own reasons.

Aside from power, national political leaders want love and
respect from their people. If one places high expectations on
someone in an unforceful manner, almost exlcusively that person
tries to live up to those expectations in order to gain respect.
If one has low expectations of someone, they won't bother
trying. That's the reasoning behind my support of President
Bush. If nothing's changed after any possible conflict in Iraq,
no serious emphasis is put on resolving the Israel/Palestine
issue etc, then politically I'm prepared to move to the left on
a more permanent basis. But not before.

01/22/2003 : "Britain Prepares Major Force for Iraq"

LONDON - Britain, which has staunchly backed the United
States' tough stance on Iraq, now is matching its political
support with a huge military force that will be ready for war in
weeks.
While Prime Minister Tony Blair insists war is not inevitable,
his government is assembling in the Gulf region a force of
35,000 troops, backed by everything from tanks and jets to
nuclear submarines. In all, Britain is sending a quarter of its
army.

"This is no token contribution to a U.S. force. It is a massive
effort by Britain's armed forces," said Charles Heyman, an
analyst with the publication Jane's World Armies.

While some U.S. allies, such as Australia, have backed
Washington politically over Iraq, Britain is the only ally to
offer substantial military aid. Full details including a
planned land force of 26,000 troops were outlined
Tuesday.

The British force, drawn up in consultation with U.S.
commanders, is dominated by fast-moving assault units,
giving insight as to what kind of fighting may be expected.

If there is a war, British commanders say privately they
expect a campaign of lightning attacks designed to topple
Saddam Hussein's regime and avoid protracted combat,
which would inflict heavy casualties on the Iraqi military and
civilians.

This scenario suggests U.S. and British forces will launch a
series of land attacks on Iraq on several fronts, including a
possible amphibious assault on the coast near Basra.
Paratroops and air assault troops simultaneously will
establish bases deep inside Iraqi territory from which to
launch operations.

The shock of the onslaught is expected to overwhelm the
demoralized Iraqi military and encourage opponents of the
regime to revolt, British military sources say.

A British naval fleet of 16 ships is heading to the Gulf with
about 4,000 marines on board. The marines can operate as
special forces behind enemy lines.

The army is contributing two major combat units, including
the 16th Air Assault Brigade, a force of paratroopers and
assault helicopters designed for swift attacks. The other
unit, the 7th Armored Brigade, with 120 tanks, artillery and
four battalions of mechanized infantry, is for conventional
armored warfare.

The Ministry of Defense said nothing about any role to be
played in any war by British special forces, which are among
the best in the world. The Special Air Service is expected to
play a major role behind Iraqi lines, as they did during the
1991 Gulf War.

Britain deployed about 50,000 troops to that war. In 1982, it
deployed fewer than 30,000 to drive Argentina from the
Falkland Islands.

The British military has a reputation for being highly trained
and very effective in combat. It has a close working
relationship with the U.S. military.

But British forces also suffer from a shortage of troops,
conflicting demands on their limited manpower and poor
equipment.

British tanks and artillery did not perform well in desert
exercises in 2001 in Oman, breaking down because of the
sand. The government says repairs were made, but many
soldiers are critical about the reliability of their rifles and
other weapons.

The government was put on the defensive this month after
press reports that poorly paid soldiers were buying their
own boots and clothing because their military gear was
shoddy. The government rushed through emergency orders
for footwear and clothing.

The army, which has trouble meeting recruiting quotas,
faces competing demands for its stretched units, including
keeping a large force in Northern Ireland in case of political
unrest.

About 20,000 soldiers are serving as temporary firefighters
in Britain because of intermittent strikes by firefighters
seeking hefty pay raises.

01/21/2003 : "UK's Blair Says Iraq Seeking Nuclear
Capability"

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's Tony Blair said on Tuesday
he believed Iraq was trying to rebuild its nuclear capability,
dismissing its claims to have no significant weapons of
mass destruction.

"What we are sure of is chemical and biological weapons.
What we believe they are doing is trying to reconstitute their
nuclear program," the prime minister told senior
parliamentarians. "How far along the path they have got on
that we can't be sure.

"They had a fully fledged nuclear program, which they
denied incidentally for years until they were obliged to admit
it," Blair said.

Iraq said Monday it would offer the inspectors more help
and would form its own teams to search for any banned
weapons. Chief U.N. weapons inspector Hans Blix, who will
deliver a major report to the United Nations next Monday,
said it was up to Iraq to convince the world it was not hiding
such weapons.

Blair said he believed the weapons inspectors were doing a
good job, should be given time to pursue it, but that Iraq had
dispersed lethal weapons around the country.

Well we are going to get rid of Saddam and that's it! I see the
point in letting the weapons inspectors "Do their job" so to
speak. But I dont see the point in letting it go on forever. WE
arent suppose to destroy/find his WMD for him, he is suppose to
provide the US and Brittain, (And various other allies), that HE
has destroyed them. We already knew he had them, he knows he had
them, 'Admittedly', but has provided NO proof as to where they
are now, what he did when (Like he really did) he destroyed
them, and show proof to the inspectors where he destroyed them
at so they can test the site of the supposed destruction!
This has NOTHING to do with oil! This has to do with the fact
that IF he has not destroyed them, where are they, (I'm guessing
Syria due to news reports, and articles I've read) and has he
sold them to someone who may have the capability to launch them
OUR way, or Brittain's way, or one of our other allies way! We
are talking some of the most 'Serious' of weapons besides
Nuclear. Mustard Gas, Cirin, E-Coli Anthrax, etc..Weapons that
would cause MASS death and destruction. He has used these
chemicals on his own people, he WILL use them on us. (If given
the chance)
The UN inspectors are NOT going to find what he does not want
them to. With the exception of a few things he maybe didnt have
a chance to get rid of, or had so much of this stuff he had
forgotten that some were "Lying" around and the UN just happened
to have stumbled upon them. Hence, 'The unused (Yet) missles
that could only contain a chemical', found last week! He was
suppose to SHOW the UN that he had destroyed them. Which he has
NOT done. All this running around from place to place is almost
a waste of gas, with the exception of possibly stumbling on to
something else he hasnt hidden. The clock is ticking for US! Who
has this crap? When is someone going to launch it our way? Mail
it? Put it in their shoes and board another plane? (Which is
more difficult to do these days, but probably not impossible). I
Love the idea that Bush has gone along with what alot of the
world wanted by going through all the channels (UN) and doing it
the peverbial 'Right Way'! It isnt working. It isnt going to. So
where does that leave us all? Disarming his ass ourselves!
Disarming him before another 9-11 happens. One that could
possibly be FAR worse! I do NOT like the idea of war, of the
loss of life that it will bring! But we have been at war since 9-
11, and as Bush said we will hunt them down "One By One" if
that's what it takes. It is now time to bring Justice to our
Enemy's. God help us ALL if we wait much longer. We/The World
cant afford to. Hopefully it will be like Merlyn put it "Over
before it begins", but if not the taste of the NEW and decisive
weaponry the US and Brittain have will make them wish to God
they had surrendered. And to the 'Human Sheilds' I hope you took
out LARGE amounts of life insurance before you went on your own
insane mission! I agree with you all in one way or another, but
I see NO other course of action to be taken at this time. And I
for one dont want to wait to find out what method of madness
that madman has planned for us next!
God Bless You, God Bless Our US, Brittain, and coalition
Soldiers!!!!

Five cable TV networks in Kabul shut down

NDTV Correspondent

Thursday, January 23, 2003 (Kabul):

When the Taliban were ousted 14 months ago, the people of
Afghanistan believed that restrictions imposed on music, films
and television would be lifted -- a hope which turned into
reality with audio and video-cassettes flooding the market and
several cable networks being launched.

Now five cable networks in the capital Kabul which showed
western and Indian songs have been ordered to shut down. Last
week, cable networks in Jalalabad were shut down.

"I speak according to the holy Koran which says that obscenities
are unlawful and an abomination according to Islamic Sharia law
whether they are broadcast on cable television or in western
movies. It is unlawful for the whole Afghan nation and for the
government to watch such things," asserted Mawlavi Fazil Hadi
Sainwari, Chief Justice, Supreme Court, Afghanistan.

This is an argument which has angered the people, especially the
cable operators who say they have invested heavily. "I spent
about $100,000 to set up this cable network, which is all my own
money. I did not get any government subsidy. This cable TV
network was set up to respond to the need of the people, because
people like watching cable television," remarked Abdul Samy
Samimeat, Star Network.

Analysts believe this latest ban on cable television reflects
the growing divide in Afghanistan between the orthodox pro-
Islamists and the liberal President Hamid Karzai.

With U.S. and British forces building in the Gulf, delegations
from Iran, Syria, Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia gathered in
the former Ottoman palace overlooking the Bosporus strait
in Turkey on Thursday to discuss ways to avert a war. Of the
five countries mentioned;Iran, Syria, and Saudi Arabia have
the most to lose with
the Eradication of SaDam as their links to terrorism will be
more exposed to the light of the sun and the eyes of the
world community in the days and weeks to follow. Egypt will
also be in the mix and to some lesser
extend, elements in Jordan. In addition to these nations
roles of support for the Irarqi dictator and world
terrorism, nations such as Germany and France will be
exposed for their violations of U.N. sanctions agaist Iraq.

Mubarak said the delegates would be asking Iraq to comply
with U.N. weapons resolutions and "we are ... asking
inspectors to do their work in an honest and impartial way."
Turkish and Arab diplomats have stressed that the
delegates will not call for Hussein to step down and go into
exile as a way of avoiding war. However there are backroom
reports that Saudi Arabia has already recommended such a
solution.
Hussein may not be the Islamic leader that the Muslims
aspire to. However, he is a prominent leader of the
destruction of Israel and the West. His fall along with
Western forces rifling through documents will be a major
blow to the afore mentioned nations.

As an aside;...with military forces of 60,000 x 3 in U.S. troops
alone and one quarter of Britain's military converging in the
Gulf, you can be assured of military action against Iraq's
present leadership.
Hussein has played his cards for the last time. He will be
trumped. It is time to EradicateSaDam.

Just came back from Bali. Went to their ground zero site. It
look bigger in the news. Tourism has drop to 20 percent. Most
tourist are coming from Singapore and Malaysia. Stay at the Le
Meridian. Such a classic hotel but unfortunately the occupancy
has drop to around 15 percent. Me and and friend has all the
facilties to ourselves.

Very Sad that such bombing takes place. 80 percent of the
people in Bali are Hindu. Indonesia mainly muslims are still
struggling while Bali is booming. It is all jealousy.

Look into the whole picture. These muslims are all cowards.
Look at Saudi. At the beggining of negotiation they were so
against the war with Iraq. Now they have change their wind
direction.

The only way to prevent terrorism is to disarm all muslim
country. Let them practice their reiligion. Give them
protection if any other religion want to bully them. I doubt so.
Then the rest will be safe. Islam teaches death to the non
believers. If you let them grow we are dead.

The boys of 16 Air Assault Brigade were doing their bit in the

There was confidence in abundance, especially from the men of 3

01/23/2003 : "Gold, Euro Up on Iraq Fears"

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Investors looking for safe havens
from Iraq war fears flocked to gold and the euro on
Thursday, sending them to six- and three-year peaks
respectively, but stocks firmed on brighter outlooks for the
technology sector.
Shares firmed in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Seoul and Taipei after
U.S. and European computer-related companies posted
encouraging outlooks after their domestic markets had
closed. Most other Asian bourses were flat after a fifth
straight fall on Wall Street.

Crude oil prices were steady ahead of key U.S. supply data
later on Thursday.

But gold blasted to a new six-year high of $364.50 an ounce,
up more than $4 from its New York level, as fears of a
U.S.-led war on Iraq drove bullion to a peak not seen since
January 1997. The surge pulled platinum to a 17-year peak
of $650 an ounce.

"Tensions are going to rise in February," said Gordon
Cheung, director of precious metals trading at Mitsui
Bussan in Hong Kong. "The U.S. is setting a deadline and it
looks like war is quite imminent."

Washington has threatened to attack Iraq and overthrow
Saddam Hussein, if Baghdad does not meet the
disarmament terms of a U.N. resolution passed in
November. U.S. forces, totaling about 150,000, should be
ready for action next month if Bush decides war is
necessary.

The dollar's recent weakness has also benefited bullion, as
the United States is expected to foot much of the bill for a
war that would be a drag on an already sluggish U.S.
economy.

The euro hit a three-year high against the yen at around
127.22 yen and was little changed from late New York trade
at $1.0731 to the dollar. The dollar was steady at 118.37 yen
against a late New York level of 118.24.

RISK OF RECESSION

Japan reported industrial activity fell for a third month in
November. That suggested gross domestic product shrank
in the fourth quarter, raising the risk of Japan falling into its
fourth recession in a decade -- a prospect that may also
weaken the yen.

In reply,

================================================================
I don't think it is noble - I think it is a pointless martydom.
===============================================================

Yes on reflection, pointless martydom is probably a better way
putting it. Saying that though, I used the word noble because
although I may not agree with their decision or their opinion
they're at least willing to back up their opinions with action.
They're prepared to put themselves in harms way. How many of us
would be willing to stand up for our principles to that degree?
Once again, I would agree with you that their actions are
misguided in this instance, but in the end that's their
decision. I wish them luck because I somehow think they'll need
it.

===============================================================
Of course there is no other way and surely that is the point.
What people fail to recognise is that it is best for the future
of Iraq. It is all too convenient for countries to complain
that the US is muscling in which is why I agree with the UK
view that the weapons inspections should run their course.
================================================================

Again I'd agree, it's obviously in the interests of the ordinary
people in Iraq to have a dictator as bad as Hussein, removed
from power. The trouble is many in the region have their pre-
conceptions on ulterior motives, along with dissenters in the
West. An extensive PR exercice is required and soon or things in
the long run could get complicated.

History always judges hasty military action harshly. If a few
more expensive months in monetary terms and the legitimisation
of action through the U.N. is weighed up against hasty actions
now, I know which one I'd take. If that legitimacy isn't there
from the outset, if things get tougher than planned during any
conflict it's our soldiers who'll questioning why there doing
this. Our soliders have to know that their people are supporting
them 100 percent. If soldiers in combat doubt for one second the
righteousness of what they're doing, that's when people
hestitate and that's when soldiers needlessly get killed. I'd
want our soldiers to be able to hold their heads up high on
returning knowing deep down that what they did was right, and
that the communities they eventually return to, are there to
support them.

It's easy to be cynical and say that the Bush family and their
influential supporters just want the oil.
================================================================
Yes it is - but after politician after politician ruin the
veneer of government that's what you get.

If the election of G.W.Bush taught those of voting age anything,
it was the importance of getting out there and voting, even if
it means crossing the box next to "None of the above shitty
candidates truly represent my view". We all have every right to
be cynical and disillusioned, but I don't agree in giving in to
cynicism. One has to believe. If enough people believe, maybe
just one of those ordinary people may one day step forward to
represent the rest of us.

I believe Bush, along with others in his administration, wanted
to wipe out Saddam before he was ever elected. He may think it
is in the USA's and/or even the worlds best interest, but I
believe it is also partly personnal. How could it not be? 9/11
just made it possible to justify what they wanted to do already.

Is overthrowing Saddam justified and best for the world? Maybe,
but let the world be part of the decision and the execution.
Doing it alone or with the minimal support we have will perhaps
create far more, and perhaps even worse problems than it solves.
If the USA thinks Muslims and the rest of world hate us
now, .....

I just wish Bush would at least disguise his zeal a little. He
appears way too eager to shoot first and ask questions later.
He may have a better chance of getting others to go along if he
cooled his jets a little. Since so much could potentially hang
on this decision, why not give diplomacy a little longer to work
its way through?

It is rediculous to say oil is behind this. USA will not get
all the oil no matter what happens.

By the way, if the other Arab nations are so against us ousting
Hussein (fellow muslims), why dont they clean out there own
house and not make us do it.

If there is so much evidence of WMD, why cant we seem to find
any of it, bomb it, show a picture, something. We are being
asked to show way too much faith in their word for me.

As for France and Germany, of course they can sit there and say
they are against attacking. Iraq WMD's will not be aimed their
way.

Lastly, one of my big fears is that Hussein has the weapons that
we claim he does and that he will use them against our troops.
Who knows what he is capable of. We may be walking into a huge
trap. He almost seems to be baiting us to do just that.

You are concerned that we might be walking into a trap set by

nations. He gained "respect" from his geographic neighbors for
"standing up" to America. It appears to me that this isagain the
case, although there is some risk in putting faith in that view.
But war always brings with it a lot of risk. The US will fight

I cast the stones THREE times asking WTF!? and they will NOT say
we are going to war with Iraq. They do however say we will win

But consistant with the past reading and progressive to each one

Things are not what they seem. That I can tell you, but I can

The point I was making holds true even if Al Gore had won. The

simply that every vote does count. I wasn't really having a dig
at President Bush, but simply highlighting the fact that those
Gore supporters who weren't bothered to vote I'd imagine now rue
that fact. Too many people have fought and died for the right to
vote. Voter apathy for whatever reason has now become endemic in
Western democracies. If that continues they won't remain
democracies for much longer. If potential voters can't find a

You might remember that the highest voter turn out in recent

Around a 42% voter turn out. The "anything but Bush" crowd made
the vote in record numbers. The next factor was a Texan with big
ears ... Ross Perot, and he did the job of taking the balance of
the vote away from Bush. This made it seem like a landslide
victory for Clinton. Given that in this past election the GOP

Saddam's son warns U.S. of huge losses in Iraq war

By Huda Majeed Saleh

BAGHDAD, Jan 24 (Reuters) - President Saddam Hussein's eldest
son Uday has warned the United States of huge losses and a
calamity worse than the September 11 attacks on Washington if it
goes ahead with plans to invade Iraq.

"It is better for them (the Americans) to keep themselves away
from us," Uday was quoted as saying on Thursday night by al-
Shabab (Youth) television which he owns.

**"Because if they come, September 11 which they are crying over
and see as a big thing will be a real picnic for them, God
willing," Uday said, referring to suicide hijacker attacks in
New York and Washington which killed about 3,000 people in
2001.**

"They will be hurt and pay a price they will never imagine," he
added, repeating similar comments in an editorial in Thursday's
Babel daily, which Uday also owns.

?????????????????????????????????????????????????

Some people's children, eh.

Its interesting Uday would reference an act of terrorism when
Iraq insists it is in no way connected to terrorism. Hmmm.
Popped right to mind for him. Saddam must have forgotten to give
the boys the "loose lips sink ships" speech.

Uday is so far gone on drugs he's delusional! Its time for a
good old-fashioned Hussein dysfunctional family intervention on
the boy (assasination). " The Hussein's", the only family on
earth who can make the Osbourne's seem very normal.

"A sea of fire" Sound familiar? It came from Kim Suck Dung, but
guess what? It is exactly what Uday is referring to. They plan
to flood the Gulf with oil and then ignite it.

More comes to light, as the connection becomes clear.

01/24/2003 : "US Says It Can Prove Iraq Has Banned
Weapons"

By Isabel Reynolds and Huda Majeed Saleh
TOKYO/BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The United States said on
Friday it had "very convincing evidence" Iraq possessed
banned weapons as a transatlantic rift widened over
whether Baghdad should be disarmed by force.

U.S. Undersecretary of State John Bolton, Washington's top
arms control diplomat, said Iraq has maintained an
extensive program for the production of weapons of mass
destruction, including long-range ballistic missiles banned
since the 1991 Gulf War.

"That is information that we have, and I think that, at an
appropriate time and in an appropriate way, we will make
the case about Iraq's violations," Bolton told a news
conference in Tokyo during the third and last stop of a tour of
Asia.

The comments echoed those made by U.S. Deputy Defense
Secretary Paul Wolfowitz who said President Bush had a
"powerful case" against Iraq.

"We have a case grounded in history. We have a case
grounded in current intelligence that not only comes from
American intelligence but many of our allies," he told the
Council on Foreign Relations in New York on Thursday
night.

The campaign by U.S. officials to win support for its stance
on Iraq, which points increasingly toward war, comes just
days before U.N. weapons experts deliver a
much-anticipated report on the first two months of arms
inspections.

It also followed a diplomatic scuffle between the United
States and some traditional allies over the pace of the U.S.
military mobilization in the Gulf and whether inspectors
should be given more time to hunt for banned weapons.

Veto-holding Security Council members France, China and
Russia have indicated their support for an attack on Iraq is
far from assured. Germany and Canada have also urged
the United States to give inspectors more time.

And Turkey, which the United States hopes will provide
bases for its troops and aircraft in the event of war, has so
far been reluctant to commit.

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld dismissed France and
Germany as representing "old Europe" in their opposition to
war on Iraq and said they were isolated in their positions.

APPEAL FOR CALM

German and French media across the political spectrum
reacted angrily on Friday to the U.S. criticism, as French
President Jacques Chirac and Prime Minister Jean-Pierre
Raffarin appealed for calm.

That message did not make it to Greece, where an
estimated 10,000 anti-war protesters descended upon
Nafplio to try to disrupt a European Union labor ministers'
meeting where officials are discussing, among other things,
the economic impact of another Gulf war.

Iraq also overshadowed discussion of economics at the
Davos, Switzerland, gathering of the global economic and
political elite where government and business leaders are
already concerned about weak global growth.

The dollar hit fresh three-year lows against the euro as
concerns grew the United States would have to foot the bill
alone for any swift, unilateral strike on Iraq.

In Iraq, U.N. inspectors visited just one site on Friday, the
al-Qaqaa missile installation 40 miles south of the capital
Baghdad.

Chief arms experts Hans Blix and Mohamed ElBaradei, who
will deliver a report to the United Nations on Monday, have
said since returning to Iraq on November 27 after a four-year
absence inspection teams have not found a "smoking gun."
But they have criticized Baghdad for failing to fully cooperate.

Washington has stressed in recent days that cooperation is
the key to whether war can be averted and that time is
running out for Baghdad to abide by U.N. resolutions
demanding they disclose existing weapons programs or
provide evidence past programs have been eliminated.
"It's important that people understand that whatever the
inspectors were able to find, Iraq for the 12 years since the
end of the Persian Gulf War has engaged in a systematic
campaign of denial and deception in an effort to conceal its
weapons of mass destruction from the inspectors," Bolton
said.

media made a big thing about it when the story broke. Slightly
worrying for a brief time, but it turned out to be nothing much.
Real al-Qaeda activity will be something quite different. It
could well be a complete surprise once again, seeing as their

(Prediction) There will be no war against North Korea.

I trust you didn't use the stones to predict Sunday's result. No

Marie: Aside from any alleged Iraqi chemical/biological

Iraq under Saddam Hussein :

In 1994, Saddam attempted to blackmail the UN Security
Council into lifting sanctions by massing his forces for
another invasion of Kuwait. In response, the UNSC passed
Resolution 949, ordering Iraq to withdraw its Republican
Guard forces from southern Iraq.
Not only does Baghdad consider its invasion of Kuwait
"honorable," but Saddam Hussein has gone so far as to call
for the overthrow of fellow Arab leaders and to attempt to
murder the Emir of Kuwait and former president George
Bush.

In August 1996, the regime's forces attacked the
Kurdish-held city of Irbil. Within hours, Iraqi secret police
had swarmed over the city, arresting hundreds and killing
scores of suspected oppositionists.

Baghdad continues to harbor the Muhjahideen e-Khalq
(MEK), Iranian dissents who conduct a widespread terrorist
campaign to support their political agenda. In the past, the
MEK has been responsible for attacks on Americans,
(including participating in the seizure of the US embassy in
Tehran in 1979), Iraqis, Iranians, and Europeans.

Saddam continues to attack coalition aircraft enforcing the
no-fly zones, which were established to prevent Saddam
from attacking Kurdish and Shi'a civilians, in violation of
UNSC Resolutions 688 and 949.

Iraq is capable of assembling its prohibited Al-Hussein
long-range missiles with key parts known to have been
stripped from destroyed imported SCUDs.

Iraq has refused to account for precursor chemicals
capable of making as much as 200 tons of VX nerve agent.
Iraq has the know-how and equipment to weaponize VX,
despite its continuing denials. Iraq continues to deny
weaponizing VX nerve agent, despite the fact that UNSCOM
found VX nerve agent residues on Iraqi SCUD missile
warhead fragments. Based on its investigations,
international experts concluded that "Iraq has the know-how
and process equipment, and may possess precursors to
manufacture as much as 200 tons of VX ... The retention of a
VX capability by Iraq cannot be excluded by the UNSCOM
international expert team."

Iraq loaded VX, anthrax, botulism toxin, and other chemical
and biological agents into Al-Hussein missile warheads
and deployed them during the Gulf War.

Iraq loaded thousands of munitions such as aerial bombs,
tactical rockets, and artillery shells with a variety of chemical
and biological agents similar to those used against Iran
and against Iraqi civilians.

Iraq began playing hide-and-seek with UN inspectors in
1991. In December 1998, Saddam stopped all cooperation
with the UN, refusing to let any weapons inspectors into the
country.
In July 1998, Iraq seized from the hands of UNSCOM
inspectors an Iraqi Air Force document indicating that Iraq
had misrepresented the expenditure of over 6,000 bombs
which may have contained over 700 tons of chemical agent.
Iraq continues to refuse to provide this document to the UN.

Iraq has refused to credibly account for 500 tons of SCUD
propellant, over 40 SCUD biological and conventional
warheads, 7 Iraqi-produced SCUDs, and truckloads of
SCUD components.

In 1995, Iraqis who conducted field trials of R-400 bombs
filled with biological agents described the tests to UNSCOM
experts in considerable detail, including the use of many
animals. These field trials were reflected in Iraq's June
1996 biological weapons declaration. Yet, amazingly, Iraq
now denies that any such trials were conducted at all.

In September 1995, Iraq finally declared the existence of two
projects to disseminate biological agents from Mirage F-1
and MiG-21 aircraft, yet there is no evidence that the
prototype weapons and aircraft were ever destroyed. There
is also no evidence that the 12 Iraqi helicopter-borne
aerosol generators for biological weapon delivery were ever
destroyed.

Apart from one document referring to a single year, no Iraqi
biological weapon production records have been given to
the UN no records of storage, of filling into munitions, or
of destruction. This is why UNSCOM refers to Iraq's
biological weapons program which deployed SCUD
missile warheads filled with anthrax and botulinum toxin to
be ready for use against Coalition forces as a "black
hole."

1,500 sorties per day will be flown with warplanes carrying an
average of 8 precision guided bombs. Thats right, up to 3
missions a day. This is in addition to the 300 to 400 much

bombardment will continue for a full week, and it will be a

Are Osama bin Laden and George W Bush related? Yes, if you
believe Dr Spencer Wells.

Dr Wells has found new genetic evidence, based on thousands of
DNA samples taken across the world over the past 10 years, that
shows that all humans alive today have descended from a single
man who lived in Africa some 60,000 years ago.

On a recent visit to Madurai and New Delhi to find out more
about the origins of Indian ancestors, Dr Wells said he had
found genetic evidence to show that Dravidians were the first
settlers in India from Africa, and the Aryans followed later.

The experiments of Dr Wells will be telecast on the National
